Magic Carpet Ride

Well I'm away from the donga at the moment and can't punch out another 5150 post for a few of days until I get back but none the less a mate of mine sent me a couple of photo's of a unit that he's working on and I thought that the figures are pretty smick and rather unique so I might just post a few shots.

Hope you like them.

  1. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like these. They are really cool, Tim.

    1. Very different aren't they. I just had to show them because of the quality of the paint job but also because they are quite different.

    1. Yeah I think he uses them as light cav with a musket. I've yet to face them but I suspect they'll be a handful.

  3. Top notch modelling and painting, so I can see why you posted the photo's - what's NOT to like about em??!! :-)

    1. Pretty cool aren't they. Pessa (one of the Raptor pilots) is an ex-pro painter and he's got years of experience. It sucks when I put my armies up against his. :^(

  4. It took me a while to realise just what these were, but when it hit me I was very impressed - they're great.
I've only ever seen a single mini before on a flying carpet, sat with folded arms and not a patch on these!

    1. Yep certainly unique, particularly given he's using them as a light cav unit for Kings of War. As soon as he found out that it wasn't individual basing for that game he went nuts.

They took him a while to do. He had a fair few little experiments to make it all work. The models are pretty heavy (all lead, including the carpets) so getting them to stick on the bases was one challenge as was getting the carpets just right (as you'd suspect). All in all though it worked out pretty well didn't it.

  5. Really beautiful work! I'm so pressed for time, I usually play in Google Sheets... Miss using mini's.
