5150 Campaign – S4c – Convoy Run

[Activation: Star Navy 1, Hishen 2 – Star Navy moves first. All ships are active]
Exeter moves forward one cycle, turns one aspect to port and forward another cycle.
Ajax needs to avoid hitting Mardaddy who has strayed into her path. She moves forward one cycle, turns to starboard one aspect, move forward one cycle and turns to port one aspect.
Warspite moves forward one aspect. Prior to the mission, the spare Raptor from Exeter was transferred to Warspite in exchange for one of her Vipers, giving Warspite a complement of four Raptors in total. All four Raptors successfully launch from her deck.
Jackie calls to his Communications Officer, “Tell the Deck Officer to launch two flights of Vipers next. I want maximum offensive effort.”
Jackie knows this will leave him with only two Vipers in reserve (with the third remaining Viper in storage on Exeter) but he feels that to reduce casualties he’ll need all wings deployed.

Vapifan and Mardaddy are still In Sight of the three X Wings (all of which are also In Sight of at least one Viper).
One of the X Wing pilots is the first to act. With four cycles of velocity at his disposal and an enemy to his front he decides to rub off speed and engage Vampifan. He side slips three cycles starboard as he barrel rolls forward. With Vampifan dead in his sights he unleashes eight deadly pulse cannon rounds at his opponent. Three are on target and one punches through Vampifan’s shields into the cockpit. Vampifan is knocked unconscious and will be Out of the Fight until he recovers. His velocity slips to zero.

In his effort to assault Vampifan, the X Wing pilot has come In Sight of Darkest Star and Tony.

  1. Take 'em out, guys. We can't afford to lose any more fighters.

    1. The next two pilots to activate are Darkest Star (with 3 successes, the more successes the better), followed by Mardaddy. Their choice will be, with only one cycle of velocity each, do they attack the X Wing directly with their guns and missiles or do they fire at the yet to act X Wing with just their missiles. What should they do?

    2. Definitely touch the yet-to-activate X-wing with a missile, I think! If the first shot reduces his chances of doing anything useful then have a go at dogfighting the closer enemy with the second viper, where superior close-range firepower might work in the Star Navy's favour...

    1. Hahaha. Yeah the Pulse Cannons have only two shots each but with four of them that's still plenty of rounds down range. And jeez they punch through shields easy.

  3. He'll have a 4 in 6 chance to become conscious when he next activates.....but until then he's a sitting duck. To hit a fighter in a dogfight you roll 6d and add your Rep (which for almost everyone is 4) and you need a total of 10. Hence you need to roll a 6. But for an unconscious pilot you only need a total of 7 and hence will only need to roll a 3. Hopefully his team mates will get him out out trouble.
